John Crowe

John Crowe graduated from Drake University in Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1999 and completed graduate courses in plant taxonomy and geographic information systems. He started his career with the USDA in 2000 as a port inspector at the Port of Chicago, where he inspected passenger baggage, rail cargo, air cargo, and mail. In 2004, as a pest survey specialist he conducted exotic pest trapping programs in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and also completed several foreign assignments including inspection of sand pears in Korea and vessel calibration and bulb inspections in the Netherlands.

In 2010, he accepted the position of National Survey Supply Coordinator for USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. In this role, he works extensively with internal and external partners to deliver high-quality survey tools for APHIS survey programs. In 2012, he successfully implemented a new national supply ordering system and streamlined the Requirements (Statement of Work) process for all APHIS traps and lures.

Brian Kopper, PhD.

Brian Kopper is a National Operations Manager for Pest Detection where he manages surveillance programs across the United States and her territories. Previously, he was Pest Survey Specialist covering the states of Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in botany from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in entomology from Kansas State University and a doctorate degree in entomology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
