Lesson 3: Conducting a Pest Survey
Topic 3: Practice with Berry Beetle
Now that you have gone through the process of planning and executing a pest surveillance program, follow those steps in planning a pest surveillance program for the berry beetle.
Objective:
- Practice the steps in planning a surveillance program
Earlier in the module, you were shown an example of general surveillance. In that example, information from Capital City Entomology Society (CCES) indicated that a new pest, berry beetle (Neutada terriblis) may have been found recently in Importland. A professional agricultural entomology expert positively identified the insect specimen submitted by a CCES member as a berry beetle. Depending on the location where the CCES member obtained this sample, there is a possibility that the pest is now present in Importland.
